You may choose between single or double accommodations in the main lodge. Availability will be honored on a first come first serve basis.

Montreat has more than 20 hiking trails, providing everything from moderate to strenuous excursions. A map of area trails is available at our front desk. The Nature Center, located near Lake Susan, offers guided hikes.
The Nature Center is operated by the Montreat Retreat Association and is generally open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday during the summer.

Fly to Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), then take a 45-minute Uber ride or ground transportation to the retreat center.

by car
If you are driving via interstate 40, take exit 64 to Black Mountain/Montreate/Route 9.
This exit is 15 miles east of Asheville. At the exit, turn north on Route 9 and continue through three lights in Black Mountain.
Route 9 will become Montreat Road, and you will drive approximately two miles to the Montreat gate.
From the gate, continue on Assembly Drive. When the speed limit drops to 20 mph, look for the baseball field on the right with a split rail fence at the road’s edge. Proceed approximately 25 yards until you see Georgia Terrace on the left.
Turn left onto Georgia Terrace. At the first fork in Georgia Terrace, keep the right. At the second fork in the road, take the left fork. This North Carolina Terrace.
As you proceed up North Carolina Terrace, you will see the lodge on the hill to your left. Follow the driveway entrance.

Retreat deposits are non-refundable. This is because we use your deposit to purchase secure the lodging and other necessities required as part of the retreat. To secure your spot you have two options:
For all retreats, we strongly recommend you have personal travel insurance throughout the trip to cover unexpected cancellations, personal medical expenses and emergency evacuation in the unlikely event you should require it.
